Think today was not our day. Almost the whole night I can´t got no sleep. The sky was so dark and it rained sporadic. We tried to go to the Kiwi Encounter today. The Kiwi Encounter is a working hatchery and nursery. It was difficult to find the right way the map was not exact. After asking some people in a souvenir store we finally arrived. But they only told us that we have to wait until the next guided tour. And the tour is about 1 hour later. We actually arrived 5min too late to join the tour. But there was no hint and no time on there official handout. They is not written that only once an hour you can do a guided tour. So we decide to drive to the Huka Falls an other attraction of the area. The Huka Falls are very impressing, the river is a very powerful one. But more impressing is the wonderful color – it is turquoise.
At the same area you will find another smoking place – The Craters of the Moon. Not as spectacular as the Wai-O-Tapu but therefore for free…
