Local Cuisine. Today’s blog post is brought to you by certainly one of our admission counselors, Alejandra.

As a Los Angeles native, my thing that is favorite about town is the diversity. Los Angeles is a cultural and cultural hub which allows us to possess usage of wonderful art museums, musical venues, and my personal favorite, delicious food! I am known within the office to be a food aficionado and am constantly amazed by what l . a . plus the local USC neighborhood has to provide in this regard.

One of my favorite USC neighborhood establishments is Mercado La Paloma (The Dove Market), a mini meals court within walking distance of campus. La Paloma features cuisines from all over the world including my two favorites, Chichen Itza, which offers food from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, and Mo-Chica which features premium Peruvian food at a reasonable price. Mo-Chica had been voted 4th best restaurant in Los Angeles by LA Magazine in 2010. This marketplace is definitely a hidden treasure in our community.

Every summer, once per week, our admission counselors have a long meal at a regional restaurant and then explore what our community has to provide by visiting local galleries and museums. This past year one of the greatest hits ended up being the 23rd Street Café which is accessible using the USC Tram. It’s a fusion of Indian-Mexican food, with a few of the most chicken that is mouthwatering masala quesadillas.

Chano’s, a USC institution, is located a walk that is short campus. Aside from the fact you can find some pretty good Mexican food there that it is open into the wee hours of the night. Surrounding Chano’s is almost any and every food that is fast that you can buy. Our office favorites include Five Guys, Free Birds, Chipotle, and Chick-Fil-A all within hiking distance!

In addition to some off-campus favorites, I would like to highlight the excellent food options we have on campus. Our new Ronald Tutor Campus Center also has lots of options for students including Panda Express, Wahoo’s Fish Taco, California Pizza Kitchen, and Carl’s Jr. Lemonade, a Los Angeles boutique café, has local and organic foods and is also one of many best healthier food options on campus. Additionally they have 4 different flavors of fresh lemonade each and every day, my being that is favorite blueberry-mint. In the event that you’re searching for an all-you-can-eat experience, the dining halls on campus, such as for instance Parkside Residential Dining Hall, provide a variety of cuisine including pizza to international specialties.

Recently in Los Angeles there is a food truck sensation, boasting some of the most innovative, delicious, affordable, and quick meals around. Final we took a lunch trip to the food trucks week. In the image you can see us getting ready to chow down on Filipino style tacos and good old burgers that are american. They’ve been on campus day-to-day and can be tracked through Twitter.

Well, while you can see I can explore meals for long periods of time, however I encourage you to not only experience just what our school is offering on campus, but additionally get to understand our neighborhood. Who knows? You might come across one of us at lunch one day!
